New endangered species have arrived at the Amazonas walkthrough reserve which opens at Yorkshire Wildlife Park today (Wednesday). The immersive habitat featuring rare species from South America including newly arrived critically endangered Golden Lion Tamarins and Silvery Marmosets, is the latest initiative from the park that is a global leader in wildlife conservation.

Mum Tila and dad Geronimo, both brightly coloured and vocal Venezuelan Red Howlers (Alouatta seniculus),welcomed their baby primate on Saturday.

Critically endangered Black Rhino pregnancy

Park rangers are celebrating a rare black rhino pregnancy at Yorkshire Wildlife Park but they will have to put the champagne on ice till next Spring. The gestation period can last almost 16 months but the news has been greeted with global cheers as international conservation efforts continue to protect the endangered species.
