Yorkshire Wildlife Park Residents Stop to Smell the Roses for Valentine’s Day
13th February 2025
Rangers marked the year’s most romantic day by showing some extra love to their animals with a thoughtful selection of gifts!
Rare Amur Leopards Kristen, Drake, and Auckley and Amur Tiger Tschuna were gifted some red roses which they curiously inspected.
Black Rhinos Makibo and Najuma were also eager to smell their bouquet.
Meanwhile the park’s rescued lions joyfully played with Valentine’s Day-themed boxes, hand-painted by dedicated staff.
Aysa and her three cubs Emi, Santa, and Teddi arrived at the park last year after being rescued from war-torn Ukraine.
After nine months living in a holding facility at Poznan Zoo in Poland, where the cubs and mother were unable to go outside, the family were reunited in March of last year and are now celebrating their first Valentine’s Day at the park.

Director of Animals, Dr Charlotte MacDonald, said, “Valentines Day is the perfect occasion to treat our beloved animals. All the animals were thrilled with their gifts from painted boxes to bouquets of roses as we prepare for a busy Half Term holiday.”
Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which puts conservation at the heart of all its activities, gives visitors an unrivalled walk-through experience coming almost face-to-face with some of the world’s most beautiful and rare species including Giraffes, Sea Lions and Polar Bears.

Happy Valentine's Day! 💕
