Lemur Woods is also home to Crowned Lemurs. Named after the distinctive crown pattern on the top of their heads, these Lemurs live in groups, called troops and bond through grooming each others fur.


Species
Crowned Lemurs are endemic to Madagascar, just off the east coast of Africa. They are mostly found in the dense forests to the north of the island.

Crowned lemurs live in troops of between 6 and 15 individuals. They are very sociable and strengthen their bonds through grooming

They get their name from the distinctive crown pattern on the top of their heads.
The males have a brown and ginger coat with a black spot on the top of their head and the females are more grey in colour with a ginger back.
